"Books" (Fresh Coffee Shop, Medan)

Hey Coffee Lovers :)

"Books". I wonder what it sounds if you heard it. On some people, books are actually unnecessary , that they should get burned or threw away at a trash can. In the other hand,, some people cannot live without it.
In my perspectives. Books are good, not all of it are good but some of it really make you think from the author's perspectives. Even some great writers put they heart and soul into the creation.

Ernest Hemingway to Irving Penn
"You took great photos. What camera do you use?"

Irving Penn to Ernest Hemingway
"You wrote great Books. What Typewriter do you use?"

Talking about books. I've found a great place.\
Fresh Coffee Shop. Komplek Ruko Royal Sumatera Jln. Jamin Ginting Km 8,5

The Right Hand of the Owner, Mas Roy, He is in charge of everything happen in the cafe

At my first tought, me and my friends are actually was going to photo hunting.

ESPRESSO JUDGMENT

Because i'm too exited talking to mas Irfan, i forgot to sipped the Espresso while at its best temperature. As you can see, i shot the Espresso while the Crema are getting thinner.
My bad ...

I couldn't guess what beans are they actualy use, but these beans are freshly roasted from Italy.
Low Acidity like always, Flavorful, Nutty and Mild.
It even Taste good when i Exhale :)

Rumah Kami Medan

Helloo CoffeeLovers :)

I'm a big fan of Jazz music. I've been dreaming since forever having a cafe with Jazz Lounge, where all the legends like John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, play at the same spot in a small cafe.

I love a conversation like
A : "Aye Jim, make some cool major 7 would you ?"
B : "Sure mate :) "
or like
A : "Hey Jim, how's the wife?"
B : "Well my friend, she still sleeps with my brother."
A : "Bravo mate"
B : "Another Scotch?"

Today i found a great spot in outskirts of Medan

 Jln. Merak No 34 Medan.

The place is somehow hard to find, you must have a good eye to find a good place like this :)

An Amazing old Piano, This place has too much cozyness. Vintage, Vintage anywhere

Old Table and i love the side Bar

Rancilio Classe 7 . This One are one of the best Espresso Machine in coffee industry. Its durability in High-Volume Cafe is unquestionable. But i have no idea if it's Double Boiler or Heat Exchange Machine

Mas Dana The Barista :) . I love sharing coffee experiences with him, and he made me a nice and balanced espresso shots

Mas Dana said to me that this was a coffee reject, which means it's extracted under 20 sec but already reach 50ml or more. (but the way he extracted it, it already rich in aroma an thick crema. The Failed espresso prove me that my espresso making skills need improvements.... a lot :((

Espresso Served in Piccolo Glass set

ESPRESSO JUDGMENT

Needless to say, Thick crema , Rich flavor and Perfect Balance.
A perfection i found in a single cup
Recommended? I just gave it 5 Stars

This cafe has a 5 Stars coffee experience. Great Barista, Great Waitresses. More good news, if you happen to met a guy whom designed the Desa Resto or Gardenia. The Guy is the manager of this cafe :) . I didn't surprise after heard that statement , of course, seeing the cafe design. :)

Ranch 57 Medan

Hello Coffee Lovers :)

Long time no post.
Days and months has passed and i really enjoying reading coffee articles. I've found great articles about coffee experiences, traveling, food photography and also a good traveling guide across coffee belts around the world. The experiences is unique, about how they managed to socialized with other people with extraordinary different culture, different perspectives. I still remember when my mom always reminded me about good old days, when she always gave me great advice about how you control other people and how you can actually make them believe you. She taught me about great responsibilities. And so my Dad told me "The ones that should really feared amongst the leader is not about failure. It's always about gaining the followers trust".

Yesterday, i found a great cafe spot at Plaza Medan Fair. Jln. Gatot Subroto Lt. 1

The place as a unique "Ranch" Theme . The seats, until cups and mugs they use

"Getra Espresso Machine"
Never knew how it works, but several cafes (including chatime and some good cafes) uses this machine

This one is on the menu named "Nasi Goreng Gila "
Incredibly Spicy, i dare you try the dish

"Oreo Cheese Cake"
Somehow caramel, somehow Cheese Cake

i love the classic serving style using the espresso shots

ESPRESSO JUDGMENT

This one is amazing pulled shot, incredible crema,
The aroma is Sugar Browning, Nutty and Malt Like. I pretty much believe they use Indonesian beans
It Tastes soury and Acrid-like (in a good way)
Great Espresso by the way. One of the cheapest espresso and amazing pulled shot.
This one is a total recomended

This place is one i'd like to recommend to you, since the place has great menu, the food and beverages is halfpenny. But don't take much hope at the waitresses tough.

Old Time Kopi Thua Medan

Hello readers and coffee lovers :)

Until now, i'm still wondering why i love coffee so much. I really never have any idea why i'm so addicted with such things. My friends always warn me about bad things caffeine can effect me, it can destroy my body, my nerve system and other things. But Caffeine is originally has good effects on you. Some say it's a medicine and can cure some of your system in your body. I have no idea at all with such things. What i know is i love it, just that.

Anyway, i'm still remember why i want to become a great Barista so bad. The greatest part is what motivated me to become one. Somehow the reason is pretty much childish, it's because of a movie.
A few years ago (if i remember correctly), i was watching a movie called "The Green Hornet". If you guys ever watch it, There's a part where Kato (the main character) is making coffee with his own espresso machine, his espresso machine that he made by himself. His mater Britt Reid wanted a Cappuccino from him to be made. I watched the ultimate scene where Kato was pouring Rosetta on top of the espresso. It was beautiful. And that's what motivated me to become a great Barista. Not just Latte Art, but a serious coffee that people can actually enjoy

Today i was going to a Coffee Shop named "Old Time, Kopi Thua"
Gagak Hitam street (Ringroad), Medan

The place can be found in Jalan Ring Road. Although it's somehow a little bit secluded. it's pretty much cozy on the inside

The decoration is simple and cozy. If i look closely, the decoration is related to old times, like 30's or 40's

They don't use any Espresso Machine, but they're using Moka Pot

This is the Menu. I like the misspelling part "Poka Mod" and "Ekspresso"

I ordered "Kwetiaw Old Time"
I guess it's pretty much Old Time. The plate is somehow traditional too.

This is my girlfriend dish :)
Both dish incredibly delicious. Ten Points for Gryffindor :)

The Teh Tarik

This is the "Ekspresso". They're using Moka Pot to make this. Although the capacity is like three shots of Espresso

ESPRESSO JUDGMENT

It doesn't have any crema on top, the barista is using old beans.  The Aroma has a turpentine and somehow smells like wine. Although the Taste is pretty much different, it was ashy, tobacco like. If the drinkers is a smoker, it will be fine. I really can't tell the Acidity, the Bitterness cover all of it,  it's off Balance too.

The Espresso is okay :). But the price is not worth it. IDR 25.000 . Starbucks would be surprise

That's all for today guys. I would like to recommend this place. It's a fun place and cozy too. Delicious dish and great waitress. If you want to hang out with friends or dating with your partner, this one is great :)
